    Cold Fusion Scam?!

    http://www.livescience.com/18415-ecat-cold-fusion-fraud.html

I'm pretty sure this article is missing something.

I think there must have been something before the sentence,

"The scientists note that the mis-wiring could be inadvertent."

It's mystifying to me how a professional article can be published with such an error.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

Anyway, apparently the device is a, "black box", with a three wire cord that plugs into an electricity source.

How could people not instantly think to check the energy flow through all three of the wires?

Since no one can see what's inside, who's to say it doesn't contain a battery?, etc.

Shouldn't the fact that Andrea Rossi previously was imprisoned for scamming, be an instant red flag?

He was on our radio show, and he sounded legitimate.

But, I guess good scammers do.

Why go through all of that work just to trick people?

What is the probability that, long term, the outcome for him will be a net positive?

I can only think that, this type of behavior is compulsive.

The older I get, the more I see that some people will do anything for short term gratification.

Absolutely, it is evident in the US for most of the presidential candidates.

Almost all of them have close to a zero chance of being elected.

But, for them, that fact is not primary.

For them, what primarily matters, what they need to do, is to keep the fantasy going as long as they can.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

Here's something else wrong with the article.

A watt is not a unit of energy.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watt

It is a unit of power.

    power = energy / time

    Saying,
"400 watts was put into the machine", is senseless.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

I know approximately zero about electricity.

But, I think, in the article, "induction", means, it is possible to transfer electrical energy into the device, without using any wires at all.

    None of the,
"15 reputable scientists", thought of that?

People, as a group, want to believe in magic, correct?

(I include myself in that group.

Else, why would I post about the galactic channelers, or Montague Keen?)

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

To me, the fact that the copper is, natural copper, not, fusion copper, just about closes the, "case".

Would you be suspicious, if, "coincidentally", the copper output was in the form of US pennies?
