    Hex values

    Any chance of having the option to have the data shown as HEX or DEC when inspecting variables, and strings as an edited form of ASCII with not visual characters shown a "." or HEX.

    That would be taking the idea to the extreme but that sort of look is not a bad idea.

    You decide how far you want to take it but editing variables while debugging is not worse idea I can think of.
