    TopDown versioning

    Hi all,

I will prepair sticky topic with latest TopDown download soon.

My idea is to take krytons "planet" version as latest, and call it 0.5.0.0.
All other versions will have increasing numbers, while final ( if something like "final" is possible, hard to stop adding features ) will be numbered 1.0.0.0 ( or simply 1.0 ).

Future "Down and Dirty" would be 2.0.0.0 ( 2.0 ).

    What do you think ?

    Thanks,
    Petr

I don't know why so many numbers are used in the version numbers. I think it makes it harder to read and see the latest version. My opinion of course.

I think just simpler numbering using 1 or 2 numbers, like v1 or v1.0 for release product.
development projects: alpha 1 or alpha 1.0 then beta 1 or beta 1.0

Alpha, Beta and V also sorts it nicely in the folders by name properly

    Thanks for opinion guys,

but now I am even more puzzled than before
kryton is right 4 digits is too much for a game...

So maybe go the Catventure way of Alpha + number, and when released full, only patched versions will have decimal part ?

    Bye,

I am glad to know I am not strange in wanting little and simple numbering. I just think if Microsoft could do their naming this way it must be ok. Windows 3.0, Windows 3.11 and then VB 3, 4, 5 etc. Just easy to see right away and know what is the latest
