I think this guy made a damn well point.
Have fun:

He symbolizes the new world out there that many are not realizing. About a year and half ago, I watched an interesting video cast where they were talking about personal branding and value.
They made the point that this company hired this guy for $100,000,considered by many as an incredible salary for this guy, but what the owners of this company, a web 2.0 firm realized that older businesses couldn't-- is that this guy they hired had a brand value of at least $30,000 a year with all the people that followed his blog. And that his value would increase in the coming years as his readership kept growing. So they in the end were getting him for what was a good bargain in the new economy.
Just like with apple iphone apps. It is a boom time for the independent single person developer making apps for the iphone. They charge a $1 for an app, but sell to millions of users.
As he pointed out in this broadcast, we are going to consume content from everywhere and anywhere. We as developers need to think about being able to run on all of these different platforms at sometime.

Don't expect more then your willing to give.
Contribute and be apart of something worth while.
There are too many lazy people out there looking for a free ride.
The video: Sounds like business from the eye of a rapper. Too high to be on stage is my guess.

Well, I would love to change with him. If he can quit being CEO of his 50M/yr USD company and doing something he loves more, then imo he did something right. But everyone is reponsible for his own life. And not every suggestion is for anyone. Billions of people are happy with what they are doing.

Imho not much longer or not anymore at all. The app store and similar places are flooded with crap and so it is more than doubtfull that a good app will been seen. I also share the thought that soon the price point of apps will be 0 USD. Money has to made elsewhere. Like for services or consulting. Simply to much stuff is given away for free so why should people pay these days? You can always find a similar application for free. Plus paying for something doesn't warrant that the developer will continue to work on it. You just can hope he/she does. The world has become a cheap place. It's ruled by a few big players. And it will stay like that.
I think we are moving towards an almost Star Trek like world, were eventually people will do what they love to do for free and just function in society doing and creating with what amuses them. I think programmers in general are more sci-fi fans and probably on the cutting edge of this new world. Hence the move to doing things open source and for free. The technology will soon be there to do all the things that we need to pay people to do. When free energy is finally let out (my conspiracy side speaking here) or discovered, I think it will make all of this happen quickly. It is the cost of energy that is keeping all of us in this slavery to money masters.
I discussed this with my Sister the other week. She pointed out that there will always be a need for money, and I said I agreed. I think a nice middle class life will be available to all for free eventually. If you want a luxury version of something, then some sort of currency will be involved. I am not an economist, but I think if you watched enough Star Trek you would get an idea of the type of society that will be. There was a lot of thought that went into that series and as we are seeing many things in Star Trek appear in our lives now recently, I think we will continue to do so in the future.
