View Full Version : Languages, performance and file size charts
I found this today in my monthly language hunt for what is out there:
http://gmarceau.qc.ca/blog/2009/05/speed-size-and-dependability-of.html
Speed is from left column to right column
Output File Size, largest at top, to smallest at bottom of each column.
So far left column, bottom is fastest with smallest size
Left column, top is the fastest but larger file size.

C / Java / Pascal / Perl / PHP / Ruby / Python / Lisp / Smalltalk / Scala etc but no Basic in this comparison unfortunately. I think it would spread well along the x axis - small code - wide range of performance.

Perfect observation Charles.
PowerBasic and also FreeBasic would fall quite easily in the "Ideal" area.
Anyhow I suppose that site is comparing only free programming languages running under *nix systems.
I thought it was an interesting way to look and arrange languages. Hopefully they will add more languages over time.

Yes, I agree.
The idea used to analyze data is very interesting.
Source data on which results are based ... hmmmm
Some article comments ... hmmmm
