Yes, I'm following minutes after minutes.
Those events are devastating both physically and psychologically.
It seems our "Protezione Civile" (civil intervention in charge to support people in those cases) and Gov are promptly acting to support people and find rescues.

Few weeks ago an Italian Scientist (Giampaolo Giuliani) predicted the earthquake studying Radon Gas.
But he missed the exact day, he said it would have been 1 week ago (29 of March) and for this he was accused for false alarm.
Anyhow, quite impossible to act even if someone try to predict something. The only thing to do is to alert the rescue and support "machine" and this seems has been done at the right time.

We will see.

Yeah, it's sad news, I'm currently watching the footage on BBC News 24. It's the only thing they're reporting about at the moment.

Eros:

Just heard about the earthquake near Rome.

Glad to hear that you and your's are safe; but very sorry to hear about all those who are suffering from the effects of this tragedy.

A few years ago, we experienced a 6.8 event here in the Pacific Northwest, and it was truly frightening. The building I was in at the time swayed back and forth and up and down for more than a minute, and I had to hang on to the PC monitor to keep it from jumping off the desk.

Take care.

Don

Best wishes to all in Italy, these natural disasters are things you can't avoid and just hope that the recovery and support after wards is good as Eros mentioned.

never will forget the comment made by a Hindu when India was flooded, "the good thing is it brings people together"
