Hey everyone!

It's been a long time since I have had time to even think about programming much less spend real time working on it. I have serious doubts that I will have time this go around. Our baby is due in about 9 or 10 weeks, so things are crazy ... maybe I'll tell you about that stuff in another post. Anywayz ... (while I have a little time ... )

I wanted to make a suggestion for the forum in particular (and perhaps the website in the future), but I can't find the forum to place that sort of topic. :violent:

So, I'll just put my suggestion here and it can be moved if there is a place for such a thing.

I like the Do You Know? section at the top of the forum. A couple of suggestions:

1. Change it to Did You Know?
(Just a small grammar change)

2. Have the phrase link to a topic or an article where the "Did You Know?" item is discussed a little further. Perhaps a paragraph or so.

I believe my second suggestion is already partly implemented. Maybe what I am trying to say is it would be nice if that feature was expanded a little bit. What do you think?

Hi Mark,

I think it is good idea :)
9 to 10 weeks ... time runs fast, I wish you both the "crazy time" will become as mild as possible!

Suggestion 1: done. Many thanks.
Suggestion 2: some already done. In any case I will follow your suggestion.

Thanks a good luck for ... all ;)

You guys are the greatest.

By the way, how many "Did you know" items are there? Maybe the group could brainstorm more.

another suggestion for the website / thinbasic / tbgl

How about picking the best and most informative of the posts in the forums and using them to create online tutorials that are updated say .... once a month..
Also could be released as a compiled html tutorial book sort of thing.....

I suggest this because although there is a lot of info in the help files and tutorials already available, For someone new to programming the information given only really covers the basics and most of the script examples given are not commented enough to make proper sense of what is actually going on in the script..

If tutorials could be made from the posts on this site then people would have a smaller learning curve.
smaller learning curve = easir to learn and use which in turn = more users..

I find the best way to learn is by studying someone else's scripts first and then making modifications that suit my needs.

I will also add that i am not in anyway trying to detract from the efforts that have already been made towards providing tutorials and help files and that the help files are very informative at the moment..

I am just suggesting that constant updating of tutorials and help files based on what people are talking about in the forums would provide more information in relation to what people are trying to achieve.

Hi Mark, yes great suggestions.

But as allways. Someone has to do it and needs time for this. Eros is working hard on thinBasic. Petr is busy with his studies. I'm working on TBGL and another not released module at the moment. We also are trying to write some articles for the next journal. not to mention that I have some health problems atm that stop me almost to a halt. So we need help to do this. I suggest using the article feature of this forum for it. In forum topics tutorials will get lost.

Yes, problem is always time and the many things we have to do in real life: job, family, some rest ;)

Anyhow, if someone has time to produce any help material (possibly presented in good way) I will be very happy to publish it in web site and/or thinBasic help file (.chm, .html, .pdf). Just sent me material to: support at thinBasic dot com. I will review it and possibly publish with all the credits.

Ciao
