I have just finished setting up my new PC at work and thought I would do a speed test :unguee:
not very happy about the results.
OLD PC is a Intel P4 520 (prescott) 2.8 Ghz, FSB 800 Mhz, 1 Gb PC3200 Kingston
NEW PC is a Intel core 2 quad 8200 (yorkfield) 2.33 Ghz, FSB 1.33 Ghz, 2Gb PC2-6400 Qimonda

Ähm, why are you sad? Looks a lot better! Or do I read the graphic wrong?

Hi,
the new PC looks like big beast from the specs.
If "before"="old PC" then ... that is odd.
I suspect having double the memory could somehow slow down the final result?
Do you have other AV software installed or different OS?
 I am not able to read charts anymore, of course less is better in this case, so results are very good

Can someone enlighten me? Petr, why is it odd? All the test took less time on the new machine, or?
Edit: In generell and imho, with applications that use only 1 core of a multi core system, it should be much slower than on a single core with higher cpu frequency.
But still, as I see read the graphic, your new system calculates much faster. All test took less time.
NEW SYSTEM = green .... OR?

Changing from single core to multy core you cannot get an immense absolute speed change in single thread applications.
What you will see instead will be that you will be able to run many different applications at the same time with little overall speed loosing effect because the OS will move applications process in the core that is more free at that time. So the final result will be a computer able to run many applications while before doing the same thing with the old computer cpu would have been very very busy.
Also you should get a great bost in multy threaded applications like CAD, rendering, and so on.
On gaming, as far as I know not many games are multy thread.
thinBasic is single thread application.
Anyway here it seems you have almost divided by 2 all the tests time so it is a great increase.

:D I looked again on the chart,
of course it is not "odd" but very good results!
I am too used to watch framerate charts...

I read it the same as Petr so its more :eusadance: than :unguee:
