LOL, for years people complained because screens were not flat... (Curved monitor glass)...
Now they are going backwards... restoring the curve to flat panels... (I know that is not the desired intention.)
When it comes to ultra-thin, and flexible, the intention is for storage and/or creative display. Featuring screens that can roll up into a tube, pulled-down like an old window roll-away shade. Also, where the creative displays may desire a continuous, and ultralight non-flat design. Such as a giant curved billboard display at a stadium. Receptacle containers and Kiosks, even helmet-visor or windshield displays for a HUD.
There is also the potential gains that the reduced depth can be a gain for displays which require thicker protective covers, such as LCD's on cell-phones and Palm-Computers.
Now all they need to do is work on "Printable LCD displays". Turn any surface into a printed layer of LCD pixels.
I want the first LCD shirt... and matching pants... Go from blue to green, rayon to jeans, shaved to unshaven... (Don't ask.)
However, with LCD monitors being the number-one computer device that is broken on these devices... Would this be a potential solution to reduced damage, or just a more expensive fate?
