:) dear thinStudio friends...

... my perhaps important idea is to create and send some knowledge on this board about

a) models and textures for the game... perhaps this thread can be a little help...
( I am still searching the right combination of 3d apps, texture mapping tool, 2d application...)

b) helpful links for textures, models and more... like eg "abraxas" has did it with the website of aeroplane models! good :)

For anyone make model take a look at these for inspiration.

http://www.amazing3d.com/services/aircraft1.html

c) feedback if something runs very well or bad with models or 3d application...

d)... make proposals... I am open and free for new input here...

best regards, send critics to me, if you like! :)

ciao und servus, Lionheart (Frank)

- otherwise: We can build and create such helpfully things on the "wiki.site" Michael mentioned some minutes before too ! :-)

PS: I have add here the *.OBJ converter to *.M15 files (for TBGL scripts!) from Petr :)

Hi Frank,

good idea. You ment this in general, not releated to the game, or?

Some remarks about your list:

a) The right combination is the one where you can create easily and fast what you want to. Because of that everyone's tools of choice are different ones. Example:

a1) Kent like to model in Blender. I like to model in Hexagon and you seem to model in Silo and Lightwave.
That isn't a problem because what we need is a file in the format M15. And the base file will be mostlikely an OBJ file.

a2) After you model you will need to create the texture maps for your model and for this you need to layout the UV coordinates. Kent does it in Blender I think and I create them in Ultimate Unwrap 3D. I think you are still finding out how to do this.

a3) Once you have you OBJ file including the UV-Coordinates, you can start creating a texture map. I don't know how Kent does it, but I'll create a layout image in Ultimate Unwrap 3D and then work on in in Photoshop. Again, if you have "Texture Baking" abilities like in Blender or Cinema4D, then you might be able to create a nice Texture with that allready.

a4) After you have your OBJ file and your texture map and you have to create a M15 file. The M15 file contains all the vertex/face info and also the UV coordinates and which texture maps are used. Look at Petr's website at http://psch.thinbasic.com/tools.html , which has all the current tools listed for the M15 file format.

b) Really Franck, google is your best friend. The internet is full on info. But I will add stuff when I find time to.

c) Sure, you ment in the game then, or?

d) ???? Can you explain that again?

Ahhh, I noticed that you like to repost stuff. What is the reason why you posted your space ship in the other topic and now here again?

dear mike, short reply... ;)

Ahhh, I noticed that you like to repost stuff. What is the reason why you posted your space ship in the other topic and now here again?

...no, such was not so important for me with the space ship, only to give users info or a better overview what I may build or create and shows examples... I haven't enough yet ;) !

- yes a) I mean stuff about our upcoming game then... of course
- yes b) I work with another 3d app / 2d as you do it or kent for example... no problem:)

- yes c) I have yesterday evening created an *.OBJ file of my space ship, converted it with petrs tool and it runs... I need only to make textures mapping to the objects, so I am satisfied... I am looking for my right way to this procedure of creating textured objects...

- oh yes d) google is a good friend! ;)

see you... mike, you are welcome... :D

my aim: I will help the forum here by transmitting knowledge during the process of 3d modelling and texturing... my time is limited, of course, but when I am working for this game, I want to learn a lot and give knowledge to other users here... ;D

lionheart (out of order now!)... grinning

hi again:) ...

My 3 cents for today... have built this flying object with cinema 4d... resize the object, then Iexport it to lightwave as OBJ file and convert it to an *.m15 file to look if this thing can really fly through air ;) I will see if the texture is still living there... ;)

my lovely missile, she likes you, if you are a friend:)

best regards, lionheart
more will come perhaps later...

PS: perhaps petr or kent or michael or somebody else can test this "missile1.m15" file in a little game to test it.. I have add it as a zip file

pps: the texture is gone... how usual, must laugh... this problem I will solve! :)

nice one, has kinda a Perry Rhodan style.

Very nice,

really alienish! Only thing I do not like is the stretched texture on wings, the rest is perfect :)

hi all:)

shorty... this lovely missile is not ready and perfect, the first one, fast modelling, and the textures were my first attempt to take a shader and another texture...

@michael... perry rhodan will beat me, if he would see this strange 'popart' missile... :D

@petr... stretched texture on wings aren't danger enough.. isn't it? yes, you are right:)

so long, how I have said, perhaps somebody can use this missile for testing it...

bye, Lionheart

LionHeart, so glad you another modeler on board the team! I am enjoying seeing your creative work.

About unwrapping, each 3d app does it differently it seems. I have never used Cinema, but let me know which program you decide you like to use and I will try to help you with unwrapping.

hi kent:) thanks for your friendly offer, I will take it ;) !

=> just a timeproblem: I only need more time to find the right way modelling objects and give them a nice texture mapping... I do three things at same time at the moment;)

;) My models are not very detailled built... I create more and it's a good practically job for modelling and unwrapping so I need only time to box me through manuals and tutorials... it's hard... but I like it...

more later, I am in a hurry...

best wishes and good luck for your models, lionheart :D
