First about XP, I had a feeling and hope that XP would be the OS that Microsoft selects for portable devices. Apparently for OLPC it will be a stripped down version XP.
I think this is great news as if we have XP on small devices then we will have thinBasic on these devices. This news really made me happy because I have always worried about where thinBasic would be when these devices are everywhere in 5 years if not sooner as the main device people use.

And if you think these devices can't replace our main desktops, I can say they can as I got an Asus EEEPC. It is so much fun. Easy to grab and run. When home I just hook up my external monitor and wireless keyboard and mouse and it just is so much fun to work with it.

Anyways knowing that hopefully XP will be on these coming devices, it is also fun to look at the current incredible interfaces being developed with web2.0 languages.
The interfaces are amazing. http://www.boxee.tv/index2.php this to download or apply to download the alpha version. Here is a vidcast showing it in action.
http://revision3.com/tekzilla/angryweasels/ you can scroll through the show to about the 8 minute mark to see the section on Boxee.
As you can see you can almost get that look of the iphone be able to flip through items beautifully and with translucent panes. It just looks the interface we would expect for this day and age. It is what more and more users are seeing on their phones as well as on websites.

How can we merge these technologies into thinBasic. Since thinBasic is a scripting language, it sure seems like a good fit to perhaps be like actionscript to make such interfaces. Does anyone else think about this stuff and have ideas?
