Hi,

here comes very simple demo of motion blur.
The effect is based on rendering to texture ( as was glow and radial blur ).

You can parametrize timing, count and resolution of motion blur billboards in the code.
The blur should apply correctly to any shape. On other side it needs framerate 30+ ideally, to look good.

Hi Eros,

the principle is very simple ... and will be covered in next Journal. With pictures and schemes, so it should be easy to understand :)

In short it is just maintaining few last frames and mixing them together :)

I know it is simple. Its me! I have a 2D limited brain ;)

I'm very limited on that side ??? but I'm always fashinating by the lights of 3D.

nice demo.

Hijacking thread
I have been playing Indiana jones Lego and they do some very interesting effects.

a very nice magnifier on the map screens
When they do flames they do particles with the odd bright orange/red quad that floats up twisting and fades I think they are ment to be sparks from the flame.
a heat haze above flame pits.

loads more intersting effects that can be reproduced.

most important the game is great to play ;D

Hi h(ij)acker,

welcome to the club :D Did you finished the demo yet ?
Heat haze should not be that difficult ... well, it is harder than glow/radial blur/motion blur, as it affects just part of the screen ... but ... nothing is impossible.

Now excuse me, I have some riding on crocodile lake to do ;D

Hehe, I did not know that, where did you find it?

In the demo I just had to manage to not fall to the water :)

To be fair, my PC did not managed to run Lego Indiana Jones in high settings, I had to disable things like DOF especially. Then it ran very fast. This is why it will be quite a challenge for me to replicate heat haze & co. in ThinBasic on my PC.

I think problem in LIJ is in fact they use shaders for it ( and my card does them, but slow ), I will try to go fixed pipeline and see how the speed will go.
