Ok, let´s begin at the beginning:
Why am i here at TB Comunity: Simple, i was looking for an easy to learn programming language and i guess i find it here.
How did i discover TB: In search of a prog´lingo i wrote in Google "programming languages" and a list of all possible lingos poped up on my screen. and by looking at all of them i stumbled upon TB which from that day on i am trying to learn.
What do i think that TB can be used for (This answer i leave to professionals) I have no idea.
What i do in my spare time: What do you think ? :-\ :)
What do i do for a living: I started at the age of 18 as an aprentice electrician until i was 29. But because i had a great passion for Germany i started to work as an AB (Able body) on riverships, general cargo,containers,tankers etc... very interesting job and a good salary. Until 12 years ago someone gave me the oportunity to learn how to DIVE and getting payed at the same time. So i did, and after 6 month of training i became a DEEPSEA DIVER for the same Cº thet learned me to dive. I do the same like the crew from JAQUES CUSTEAU, we dive for wrecks or other interesting thing on the seabed.

Programming: How hard i tryed to learn to program, something in my brain did not understand it all, the information wouldn´t get in, the complexity of programming whas to much i think. But today i am still trying, now with TB which is more simple to understand for me i guess. Therefore i am happy to have the help from Petr,Eros, Michael and the rest of you guys. I was never a brillant student but programming always intrigued me and this i why i want give up learning stoburn as i am.
So with the help of Petr and all of you i hope to learn programming small thing in TB.

Hey, that is and was 1an interesting job. And for sure would be cool backgrounds/themes for computer games. Divin is fun, once you learn it properly. I just had one experience when I was on vacation in australia. I had the opportunity to dive in the great barrier reeve. Awesome area.

Again, I'm sure everyone is glad to have you here. And it doesn't matter how experienced you are. Start small and fight your way up. Be it a small game or an addressbook. Try to break it into small block of functionality and put it together slowly.

Coding an app is a little bit like putting together an electric circuit. Just like the electricity is flowing through cables and then gets redirected from switches and then drive motors and stuff like that, a computer will look at your code in a similar way. It will follow your code like through a cable and then changes its path when it reaches a switch, does somehing, etc etc.

Welcome Frank. Nice job you have. Diving like the crew of Jaques Cousteau.

I learned programming in 1977. First I didn't know what I could do with it. :) It got 1982 before I saw the benefits of it. I managed tasks in 2 weeks (with VAX/VMS rogramming) where others did it in 4 weeks by typing with the SOS (Son Of Stopgap) editor. And after a Pascal and a C course I got the point.

What I can say to you is take small steps and read. Look for a book like "Programming for dummies". These are very good books and even I use them for other languages. In the beginning it will dazzle a little but after a few weeks it looks like you're programming like a pro. ;D

Welcome Frank and one thing besides the language is the community around it and I have found none better than here. Happy learning, thinBasic can be used in so many ways, just start with the examples, modify them and see what they might inspire you to create on your own then.
