I hope that my wife then has less BOD's. Under XP I have no problems with BOD's, but she gets a BOD every 2 hours you could say. Watch a DVD and it is bound to happen. Kinda makes you nervous because the notebook is brand new and you start thinking that it could be a hardware defect.
Hmm, I've only had Vista crash once & that was when I was trying to install the ZoneAlarm (http://www.zonealarm.com/store/content/home.jsp) Firewall.

I heard that from some relatives too. I guess that it is more on notebooks.
Lol, I actually own a Notebook, I've never owned a Desktop PC. :D

I installed SP1 on my Vista machine.
Fortunately I installed an English Vista version because Italian updates always arrive after all other languages (this gives me a bad feeling of the Italian influence in the IT world :-[ )
Anyhow, here some details:
when started, installation say it can take up to 1 hour. In my case it took about 30 min on a Core 2 quite fast computer.
Computer restarted twice. I suppose to apply intermediate updates.
Installation did all the work alone, without any intervetion.
When finished, just a "installation was successful" dialog appears.
So far all seems fine.
Speed seems a little better. I didn't had any inconvenient on Vista before this installation so I cannot say if some problems were solved or not.
I will report any other feeling is any. I need to investigate further in the tech side.
Ciao

It was about the same for me, 20 minutes to download about 30 to install & my computer restarted several times. :D
This (http://www.computerperformance.co.uk/vista/vista_sp1.htm) is a review of some of the improvements.
