Petr, introduced me to this awesome project, but surprise Intel bought the company.

No wonder it wow'd both of us, and now intel too!

I heard on a daily newscast at 3dbuzz, but can't find links yet, THAT Sony is releasing the PS3 SDK for free. It will be and is a
crossplatform engine and so far 3 games have been developed and only 1 was released under the ps3 showing it is truly cross platform.
You develop on the PC and then just compile to the platform you want. Trying to dig up more info, but you can develop in DX and OpenGL
and it comes with full documentation for the engine. This is big news, wish I could find more text info and not just audio broadcast.

Ok, I was spelling wrong in my searches, here is a story about it on Digg:

Its called phyreengine and write once and compile for pc, ps3 or xbox !!

Thanks Kent for the news,

although I check PO often, I did not noticed Intels action.

( two must-look links: concept art (http://www.projectoffset.com/conceptart.php), story boards (http://www.projectoffset.com/blog.php?id=72) ).

Although I am scared of any "new" fantasy games ( as all look 90% the same, with some devilish pastel color palette graphics ), Project Offset looks like a great project to me.

Message about PS3 is interesting, although I cannot understand combination of "free" and "PS3 development for less than $1200" on the slides.

Thanks,
Petr

Well, I think that is the price for the development kit, a special PS3 for developers.

I think that was the price before it will be released as free, probably screen shots from a presentation of phyreengine before the announcement, but good catch Petr. I didn't read the slides, just the article :)

PO looks awesome beyond anything else out there so far.
