There is a new Android SDK version out. I haven't messed with it, but thought I would put the link up. I think it is the future of the next wave of handheld device OS's.

This article here also gives a very nice other view to what Android is:

A nice detailed video explanation of the API, highly recommend to watch to get a lot of info

It is interesting project,

only thing I do not like ( but it depends ) is implementation of "just" OpenGL ES 1.0, when 2.0 is ready.
I am quite curious how wide success will this Google step have.

Thanks,
Petr

Well, I think probably many feel as I do.... I have a nice phone with a nice little keyboard built in, I bought the phone, but I can't put what I want on it althought I bought my own 2 gig memory card. I can put mp3's, videos and pictures, but I can't select my own apps. I have to download and pay for apps they provide. I can't back up my contacts to my memory card for instance.

From what I can tell with the open os is that I will be able to write my own apps, use whatever apps I want as long as they are written for Android, so I think that is a very big thing. I hope it catches on like wild fire!!
