Hi folks,
the computer I use has an AGP graphiccard, at least I think so. But the slot I thought would be an AGP slot has a very short slot next to it and on the board itself is printed that the surpose to be AGP-Slot is an PCI-E slot. So my question is, can you use AGP graphiccards in a PCI-E slot?

No. you can see the pin layout is totally different. The details from the dell site are quite good.

Thanks for the info. So I guess I just have an extra 1x PCI-E slot for something like the LAN card that was in that link there.

Hi Mike,
I think it is possible, but it has disadvantage in performance hit and also costs some extra space:
ALBATRON ATOP (http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/news/297).
So you would have to buy extra "bridge" card. Here it costs about 14 EU.
You can use two PCI-E slots to use it for Crossfire/SLI solution with two graphic cards. But you do not get double the graphic performance then, and it works only with some cards.
So better to stay with current setup :)
Abraxas, thanks for the links, now I can see AGP 8x has same transfer rate as PCI-E 4x. I didn't know that.
Bye,
Petr
