Here is a very nice video review of a very interesting umpc that is coming out or it might be out in some parts of the world already.
The review is long and extensive, which I really loved. You can see his excitement about this product and times it is ushering in.
I really enjoyed this and think it has some really cool ideas and is really impressive. I hope the price is reasonable, because if it is, it could be the start of something new for sure.

Hi Kent,

this looks quite nice, although I do not like how it shines against the light.
Working with it during summer could mean burned eyes. But rest is quite interesting!

My brother ordered Windows Mobile 5 powered device - is it programmable only using Visual Studio ?

I was looking at more videos last night by Hugo Ortega. I really like how in depth he goes and his enthusiasm for gadgets.

There are some really cool devices out there, it is just a matter of price for me now.
I just stopped at the computer store on the way home and they have this neat 12.1 inch tablet pc, it has amd dual core, an nvidia go video card, runs vista and aero ran smoothly and vista was very responsive for $999. When you look the umpc's they cost 1.5 to 2 times more than this what I consider a big umpc device. I will use this cool HP to compare all new devices coming out for price to performance.

What is your brother buying? FreePascal might be able to be used to write for it.

UMPC are cool stuff :)

Well, my brother got "mio A701", it should be programmable using Visual Studio 2005, but I would like to use something less giant. Will try FreePascal, thanks !
I should be programmable using OpenGL ES...

freepascal and lazarus:

On coding monkeys I had asked about programming for portable devices and there were many recommendations on that thread too:

I just saw a price on the Shift, it is approximately $1500, that is too bad, i thought it was going to be more cell phone priced with those features... oh well :(

I am so glad it worked for you Petr. I know these little devices are the way to work and have fun in the very near future once they are truly affordable. I am glad you are hooked on them as much as I want to be. I am sure your Brother won't mind you programming on his machine, this way he can show his friends cool things they never thought possible on the small devices.

I am sharing in your excitement too so thanks for report of 3d working so well in it!!
