Anyone know any good ISP's in the UK that dont throttle or shape your bandwidth, I've had enough of Pipex over priced and slow.

What do you need to do with your web?

Certainly the stats of someone who shares a lot. >:(
I signed up with 1and1, and I know they started in Germany and onto England and then over to the states. They seem to give lots of space and bandwidth for the price.
Here is the link for the UK:

thanks kryton
ive been looking at adsl24 seems to get good reviews.

I'm online a lot, but I don't share. And I have a lot less traffic than you. When my stepdaughter was living with us, she did a lot of sharing. And produced the same traffic like you. Plus you said you need it for P2P. Now tell me that your traffic was build by sending pictures to your buddies from your last vacation. RIIIGHHT! ::) Just for the records. I hate people who use warez and share because it is a crime. So we better stop here.
Kent: I'm on 1und1 too and they are the first to try to cancel your contract if you produce traffic like ABRAXAS does. No matter for what you used it. Flatrate doesn't nessecary mean you can download all you want. Not in the eyes of an ISP. ;)

I do not know how much traffic I produce. My contract here in Italy have no any limitations. Here, many ISP, especially big ones like TelecomItalia, are more interested in selling services like TV on net rather than limiting user band. We are now with 20MBit xDSL lines over standard phone lines.
Mike, I hate too crackers or people exchanging illegal material but you cannot know what Abraxas is using p2p for, so better remain neutral on this ;)
Making such band consumption is quite normal for current xDSL line. Reading that number seems really impossible but with current TV via IP ...
Anyhow, I asked because I'm in the position to give for free some web space in the form of http://YourName.thinbasic.com only if used band is not too much. An axample is http://psch.thinbasic.com
thinBasic is hosted on a dedicated phisical server but we have a limitation in bandwidth of 512kb speed. Space is not a problem, about 100Gb mirrored HD can be used. I also can give php and MySql access if needed but only for not high demandig web sites. Server is hosted in aruba.it web far here: http://webfarm.aruba.it/index_eng.asp
So, if someone is in need of a web site, I can do something. I strong prefer that web site is computer related content.

thanks Eros
My exchange was supposed to get switched on at 24Mb on the 31st july but no sign of that happening yet. >:(
for anyone interested heres some legal p2p stuff :o
heres some classics
http://www.publicdomaintorrents.com/topten.html
and streaming tv
http://www.channel4.com/4od/index.html
who would of thought that streaming tv would use up so much bandwidth.
Thanks for the links Abraxas. I used to love my Saturday afternoon Sci-fi shows and movies with cheesy effects. I can watch these on my cell phone when out and about. It is fun. I mainly have been watching video podcasts that I download and convert to the cell phone format. Now I can throw in some of these movies and shows :)
Abraxas is definitely not over the top with his bandwidth usage. For example my average monthly bandwidth is roughly 30 GB and I only expect it to go higher. I work for a computer magazine and some other papers and it is rather common to send loads of pictures and other big files over the net. In addition I am a member of a local railway forum where a lot of people exchange various railway movies we shot. With each movie roughly 1GB in size one can imagine how bandwidth goes up rather quickly.
So, to cut the long story short. High bandwidth (and 20-30 GB/month is not high) and P2P service usage does not necessarily mean the person in question is downloading warez.
My 2 cents...

... I work for a computer magazine ...
Computer magazine? So you can spread the voice about an interesting script engine called thinBasic? :D
Sorry, I could not resist to ask.
Anyhow, wellcome here Barney. Hope you will find something interesting for your work or fun or spare time.
Ciao
Eros
Thanks for the welcome :) but I am I am not really that new here. It's just that I've been lurking and watching you guys. ;D
Anyways, regarding the magazine. I will, of course, write about thinBASIC but I am from Croatia and the magazine is in Croatian language, so the number of potential users will be relatively small. On the other hand... it's better than no word at all. ;)
Keep up the good work. You've done tremendous job so far and I can't wait to see where thinBasic will eventually go.

Hi Barney,
thanks for trying to put a note in the mag about TB. It deserves publicity as it is a damn good language.

That would be nice,
if you could take a photo of the page in mag and post it here, that would be interesting.
We will meanwhile get Croatian dictionaries :)
Bye,
Petr
