Also we started the development of thinBASIC_Irrlicht.dll engine support module.
Because I don't like the vapourware here is a solid view of it.
Of course it's a preliminary matter and you can do really nothing with it, but is the beginning! ;D
To run the script you should have the Irrlicht engine (aka Irrlicht.dll) on ThinBasic's folder.

Roberto

Hi,
sounds very interesting, does it not have ODE integrated already too ?
I am using DLL from this download (http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/downloads.html), is there other way to get just DLL ?
I am looking forward to the samples, as I can see Irrlicht is powerful tool with many cool features.
Bye,
Petr

Thanks Roberto,
I have already downloaded SDK :),
but I think many will go just for DLL, so thanks a lot for pure DLL!
Some demos show nice RT shadows, hmm ;)

A little "inside" Roberto secret: wrapper module is developed using MS C.
This is a nice project that can "value" a dedicated forum. Let me know when ready.
Due to static linking from MS C wrapper, you need to put Irrlicht.dll in same directory of thinBasic.exe. So thinBasic root directory and not thinBasic lib directory or script directory. We are still study if it is possible to avoid this behave but no solution so far.

So that means right now you need to have tb installed.

Roberto is working on Irrlicht wrapper. It is another thinBasic module like all the others so thinBasic is needed as long as you write and execute scripts. If you will bundle scripts into an exe, thinBasic will not be necessary.
We will give more info as soon as Roerto will go on with it.

Oh my, Irrlicht is really something from what I have looked at. This is just incredible news.
I wish I could just lock the doors and not go out to do work and errands and just stay home and catch up on the great things in thinBasic just this week alone, WOW!!
Thanks Roberto and Eros!!!

Sorry Ken but it will need some time to have something to wor with unless Roberto will forget about his family for 2 weeks, but I'm sure he will not.
We are in wapourware forum so all ken be and also its contrary :D
Ciao
Eros
No worries, vaporware is ok too, at least we know it is in the future at some time. Still very exciting news!!
Roberto, I don't know if your schedule got too busy, but haven't heard anything about irrlicht for thinBasic for awhile.
Irrlicht is a neat engine as I am tinkering with it in c++. Other than maybe python, I don't know of any other scripting languages that support it.
What you have done so far is very clever in taking an object oriented sdk and making it usable in a non oop language.
Anyways was just wondering what is in the plans for it in the future?

Hi Ken,
given that you also know C/C++ language I could give you (of course if you want) the source of ThinBASIC_Irrlicht support module, so you can take the charge of module development.
Please let me know.

Great idea Roberto.

.
Roberto, I am not good enough to probably do something like that as it took me awhile to figure out what you were doing. But on the otherhand it would be fun to try as long as I could ask for help often when stuck.
I know the biggest thing for me will be taking the oop aspect and making it procedural which you seemed to have mastered!

So what is the state about this? Is Kent now actively working on this module?
No Mike, I am not.
I message Petr about this. In playing with Irrlicht in c++ and searching for help on the forums, they have some really rude obnoxious people on there that makes going to the forums pretty uncomfortable. I know I would be very reluctant to ask for any help on there.
I got spoiled by the forums here and the old pyxia forums as well as coding monkeys. Although coding monkeys gets heated up at times, Blue Steel seems to get things cooled down.
The irrlicht forums do not match the quality of irrlicht itself and it is a shame.

That is to bad Kent, but I can understand your feelings.
