View Full Version : Unofficial Alpha 1.1
Hi Guys, this is the unofficial Alpha 1.1 It will be official when Petr is done with it.
What I added.
It plays Mikes neat intro music and it aligns nicely with the splash screen and game start.
I got random many new background maps made. I see after all that work that they are a little too big.
But I will eventually replace them with nicer ones. But now you will not get bored with anything.
I have 1 complex map and will make more. So that in the end it will all be complex maps of sorts.
Well hope you enjoy the new little updates.

Hi Kent,
this is very nice version !
The fight is perfect with Mikes music on background and your fantastic galaxy sceneries !
Some of them are really unbelieveable !
I will make it official very soon, I will just make it TBGL 0.1.9.2 tweaked ;)
Thanks a lot,
Petr

Guys, I can't wait till I can put TBDI aside (because I finished it) and then get bakc to soundtracks and graphics. I'm at work but the screenshots look great.

Hi,
I made the "official" release in sticky topic.
Sadly I have not RAR compresser at the moment so it is ZIP, ... and quite big :-[
What's new ?
Regarding features it behaves like kryton9s Alpha 1.1.
I just did some internal tweaks. This means there is no need to type background files and enemy files in source, all is uploaded automatically using directory listing. No API to get resolution. Also just one background texture is loaded at time to make the memory requirements less hellish :). Plus there are some less important changes you might not notice like skipping intro using spacebar or enter.

Petr

Get WinRAR, it works great. Also look at 7Z, I think it support RAR too.

Hi,
thanks for the tips.
I downloaded both :)
I have still troubles to understand how TUGZIP works, so I did it in WinRAR.
I must realize how TUGZIP works before WinRAR 40 day period will be over :)
I have troubles uploading big files as attachement on this forum ( probably problem on my side ),
so that is reason I post links to file located on my web.

I have same problem, they time out.
Hi Guys, I made a slight addition to alpha version 2 and named it 2.1 This has nothing to do with the game being advanced, but it adds for some testing sub routines. This will help me make really awesome backgrounds with the information I gather from you guys.
As you are playing topdown3d, when you see backbround that looks stunning, press L, for Like. If you see a background that is absolutely hideous and you can't stand press D for dislike.
With Eros's help it will append data I can study to 2 text files:
LikeSavedSettings.txt
DislikeSavedSettings.txt
After a few weeks of playing and marking your likes and dislikes, and do not worry about duplicates in there. So don't wonder did I select this one before. Just if you see something you love mark L , something you hate D, I can easilly sort them once I get the data.
So have fun playing and only mark those that you really like and hate, the I don't care either way ones just leave them be for now.
Don't forget you can hit R at any time to get a new backbround and of course new game. So if you just feel like making likes and dislikes in an evening you can quickly go through many screens this way.
Big thanks to Eros for helping me with the append file command.
Thanks.
Just place this version in your alpha 2.0 version folder.

Hi,
this is interesting addition kryton !
I have just troubles to find reason for "dislike" button :)
Bye,
Petr
To see if someone gives me a like but another user thinks dislike, by the count of the votes I can determine then what to do. I will remove duplicate for each user first, so they don't have to worry if they entered it before or not, and it will keep the tally Ok too.
And also if I do keep some randomness for long players, I can determine settings that are appealing based on how dislikes look.
