Hi catventure,

thanks a lot for new TAB!
I was quite frightened when TAB editor wanted password, but the player saved me from madness :)

Regarding the games - the file sizes are triple the file of Dragonia, so it seems lot of fun waits for revelation.
I started with "Piggery Jokery"...

Archibald Blake, bank clerk, fitness fanatic and lepidopterist

;D sounds interesting. Could you please explain what "lepidopterist" is ? I did not find it in dictionary :D

I am really happy, its time to play !

Thanks,
Petr

Little bug found - it occurs only in "Piggery Jokery" I think. Just load the game and type "quit".

Hi,

thanks for both explanation and update !

I admire the richness of english language you manifest in your games, I need to use dictionary from time to time, but it has educative impact this way for me too :).

How long did it took to you to design such a game as "Piggery Jokery" ?

Hi Petr,

Thanks. I hope you like this game. I made it a few years ago for my earlier adventure creator. Probably took about a month to 6 weeks or so to devise it and code it all etc... I had fun writing it on and off during that time.
If you need any playing hints PM me - but it's not that difficult really :)

Guys, under the games selection I didn't see either game? Where are these games at? Thanks.

Hi,

when you download the TAB,
just run TAB_Updater script, which will allow you to select and download extra games to play.

Then from the TAB_Player just select games from "games" subdirectory. There are some by default, but they are more like technology demos. The games from net are fun :)

Petr

Updated TAB again.

Due to some code left in Editor version of Player by error. Was causing flickering effect to Player dialog statusbar after a game was 'quit'...
Now fixed.

Sorry,
catventure.

Hi catventure,

thanks a lot for corrections.
Do you think you could add "download patch" in TAB_Updater ?
It would first check if you have the "stable" release installed, and only then it would allow to download patch.
I'm now running on very slow internet speed ( but this won't stop me from downloading TAB :) ), so it would be nice to not re-download all files but just those, which need correction.

What do you think ?

Hi Petr,

OK. Will think on that and come up with suitable option.

Thanks,

Hi all,

if you have some spare time, definitely try "Piggery Jokery" game from catventure.
I had some time yesterday evening, so I could finally dive into the game better.

It is very good one, maybe you will find it little bit difficult on the beginning, so here are my advices:
* type HELP on the player command prompt to see all possible verbs
* Draw a map on paper, or you will get lost in the later phases :D

... I will try to find way to help Barbie the badger from trap meanwhile :)

Bye,
Petr

Thanks Petr, I am looking forward to start playing these types of games as never really played them, other than if you count some of the early space quest type games. I will play them when I have a portable device and I am out, it will be fun to play while waiting at places to help pass the time.

Hi,

Good, I am glad you have progressed further into game :)
Remember you can save and later reload your game position which might save time if you accidentally get killed during game. Then you don't have to start the game from the beginning each time...

Best wishes,
catventure

Hey,

don't scare me :D
I already use the load/save, but knowing I can die ... game gets more dramatic :)

Petr

That will be good to save and reload as I plan to start playing while out and about so frequent saves will be really great to have and make it feasible to play then.

In looking for a portable device, since it seems some of microsofts programs work in windows ce, does that mean thinBasic and TAB will also?

Kryton9,

thinBasic is mainly developed using Power Basic compiler. We use a lot OLE32 strings because they are very flexible and fast. I do not know if all the API libs we use are present is WinCE. I've never tested any WinCE devices other than for few hours and not for thinBasic purposes.

If you make any experience using thinBasic, let us know even if negative.

Ciao and thanks
Eros
