We have made some tests with thinBasic under Windows Vista RC1.

All scripts seems working fine except the one using TBASS module.
Reason is because we do not have correct audio card drivers so really we still do not know if it will work or not.

This is fantastic message !,

did also TBGL scripts ran well ?
I made some general changes to make this possibility high, but I had no chance to test it.

Yes, TBGL seems working fine.
I tested RobotDuel and it works perfectly.

I just have problems with audio. It is not a thinBasic problem but a driver problem of the computer I have.

I'm glad to hear that. I think the audio problems will be solved.
Just another curious question - RobotDuel on Vista and XP ... is there big difference in performance on the same box ?

TAB is also working fine both editor and player.
Also updater is fine.

this is great.
I was afraid of Vista quite a lot.
Hope the final release will keep this level of compatibility.
Also good to hear thinBASIC richedit is working in this system too, as richedit is quite strange beast :)

Do you make your tests with Aeroglass turned on ?

I cannot say about performace. I'm testing on a business class machine so graphic card is not so good.
I'm testing on a HP DC7600U P4 2.8Gh with 1.5Gb RAM
Graphic card is an Intel 82945G Express Chipset

Vista run quite well and fast but OpenGL is not very fast.
I have other HP computers with integrated Intel Graphic cards and in none of them OpenGL has good performances.

So I'm happy that all is working fine. Speed will be considered in other tests.

Conclusion. Vista is really very good, nice, seems stable, functionalities rich, a lot of customization. I like it.

Hi,

Intel are not very gaming cards - on my 850 MHz box with ATi Radeon 9600 I get about 32 FPS in RobotDuel for top settings, same settings on mobile Celeron 1.5 GHz but with Intel card result in 18 FPS :(

I did not know Intel has card with pixel shader model 2.0 ( required by Vista ).

So it seems Vista will not be a problem for thinBasic.

I'm happy to hear that.
In my country Vista fills the shops in March 2007, but good to know it will not cause troubles.

Mmmh, I read on the OpenAL site, that Microsoft is dropping DirectSound with Directx10, so if the Bass lib doesn't get changed, it might effect the sound ouput of ThinBasic as well.
