when the player types 'quit' and responds 'yes' to the quit action dialog box.
Previously the TAB Player Window was closed.

*CHANGED The TAB Player Dialog Window is now cleared and reset to default
if the player responds to the 'gameover' action dialog box "Play Again?"
with 'no'. Previously the TAB Player Window was closed.

*CHANGED The TAB Player Dialog Window does not now close and re-open
when a player chooses to 'restart' a game in progress or responds to a
'gameover' action dialog box with a 'yes' to replay the game from the start.

restarted from the beginning.

Catventure,

congrats on moving your web to rock stable thinbasic.com domain!
I was very, very nicely surprised by the TAB tutorial. It's pleasure to read, easy to understand even for me, as non-native English speaker. Looking forward to part 2, 3, 4 ... of the tutorials. Really good job and nice layout.

I have another little suggestion for next TAB release: you use MSGBOX with 0 as handle.
If you specify the handle of parental dialog, you have assured the user cannot "loose" the MSGBOX and must respond. It also prevents displaying of multiple MSGBOXes with same information.

Also little question :) : How is it done in "Cloak of darkness" that all background of printed text except first description is black ?

Thanks,
Petr

Hi Petr,

I discovered that my troubles with previous domain were due to my allocated space of 10mb was full and yet I was unable to delete any content there. Odd.
Anyhow, I now have new FTP client - FTPCommander - which is nice and free too. I'm now happy with "rock solid thinbasic domain".

I will try and add more to tutorial as days go by.

Msgbox idea good. Will do that.

The RichEdit background color for "Cloak of Darkness" is black as set on 'Game Settings Editor'. It should stay black throughout the game...
There is an entry in Script 1 Editor which adds "It is raining heavily outside" to first location description with a different text bg color to highlight that text using new "bgcolor=X" ACTION, if that is what you mean.

catventure.

Hi Catventure,

the background in "Cloak of Darkness" is not black from the beginning :(
See the attached image. It is something like magenta.

In "Character_Demo" the background is ok from the beginning.

But if I set in "Game settings" black background manually and save it, it works as it should.

I attached the game with working black background too, maybe you will find some differences between the official one and this ? ???

Thanks,
Petr

Hi Psch,

Ah. I think I see what you mean. Yes you're right. It was incorrectly set up as a dark magenta colour initially when supposed to be black. Thanx for spotting that.
I will amend for next release to start with black background and then the "bgcolor=0" action will not cause the discrepancy. The background color will then be uniform throughout. Cheers.

catventure
