Microsoft shares Kinect source code with public

I read this (http://www.destructoid.com/microsoft-shares-kinect-source-code-with-public-248578.phtml) story earlier today and couldn't believe it at first because Microsoft aren't really associated with open source.

A set of simple coding examples written in different programming languages can be found here (http://kinectforwindows.codeplex.com/).

Maybe someone will be able to develop something useful for Kinect now? ;)

I considered buying Kinect 4 Windows to do small home motion capture studio, but the current generation of device is not precise enough and would need lot of filtering, so I will probably wait for Kinect 2 :)

Hey Petr have you ever heard of Leap Motion (https://www.leapmotion.com/product)?

I've been following them for some time, they look like being a good alternative to Kinect.
