I like the idea very much! And the public demonstration in Venice was stylish ;)
At work we have permanent problem with many WiFi AP colliding with each other in incredible ways, the proposed solution could help a lot...
In the article there is no detailed information on when this will be applied on consumer devices, I am looking forward to that moment.

AT work we had problems too with wifi networks.
We have solved them all using technology from MERU: http://www.merunetworks.com/
