recently i lost the icon which appears on the taskbar when you insert a USB device, so how to close/eject that device ?
run the following command (or make a shortcut for it for easy handling):
RunDll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll
then the safely remove hardware appears, stop the usb device you want from the list.
it works for me in windows xp /sp3, i don't know if it works in windows 7
