Everyone knows that happiness is linearly proportional to the market value of your material possessions.
So, for L3000, you get 3,000 units of happiness.
Wouldn't you rather have this?

It comes with 107,000,000 units of happiness.
And, beyond that, you have the money; or equivalently, you deserve it.
Who cares about anyone else?
Just look at that beautiful view!
(Don't forget, once you're dead, you'll be free from all retribution.)
i like your description Dan of "£" as a unit of happiness, but what about to promote this great idea by inventing one word instead of "unit of happiness", so the price of a laptop is 300 HAPs (plural of HAP) . and i must pay to the bank 1000 HAPs.
Great

Because where I live there isn't much wood, many time ago we had another kind of low impact houses in the country.

Hi José,
which approach was used for the house on the image? I can see the roof is covered with something organic, but I am not able to identify it.
Here are quite popular houses from straw, here few pictures (website sadly in Czech):

... but inside they look like normal houses. The hobbit house in the first post looks like from fairy tale, which I like. Seems like ideal environment for somebody working in film industry or writer... just looking at the image sparks so many ideas...

People involved in these projects have to fend off remorseless attacks from the bureau-bots who emit soul destroying prohibitions and mind destroying paperwork, but they have major popular support, and the backing of the Welsh Assembly, our regional parliament now.
They will also have to take good care of the structural timbers. Fungi and woodworm thrive in our damp climate and have a hearty appetite. But the great thing about these natural building materials is that they are easy to repair, and nothing has to be straight and precise.

The cavemen were smart enough to realize that a cave is a great place to live.
The temperature is approximately constant the whole year.
What maintenance is there to do?
I have been in some tourist caves before.
Inside, during the summer, it feels like there is an air conditioning system running.
And, the ones I was in were dry as a bone.

For a long time I have thought that underground homes would be best.
It seems to me that basically, all you have to do is, dig a big hole, construct a reinforced concrete box in the hole, and bury the box.
I do know that in the U.S., the government has sold some abandoned underground missile silos in the plains states.
People have bought them, and turned them into their homes.
In my opinion, they would be great homes.
Thick reinforced concrete walls, and multiple floors, probably going down at least 60 feet.
------------------------------------------------------
An alternative to digging a hole, is to build a house into a hillside or a cliff.
The Pueblos were not stupid, right?

And, even now, is there any home building material that will last longer than stone?
But today, what percentage of people have the available time necessary to build a stone house?, where would they get the land?, etc., ad infinitum.
(Actually, you could ask, today, what percentage of people have the available time necessary to cook themselves a meal?)
