they go forward 1 step and two backward, they said their purpose is to fight bootkits viruses, and in reality their purpose is to fight the other OS's, in practice they will reduce the usage of windows 8 and the people will stick with winxp and win7, i wonder if i can apply the same plan i do usualy
1- partition the hard disk with a bootable disk utility partitions in this order:
partition 1 -> primary, partition 2 ->logical, partition 3 -> primary
2- install windows xp on part 1
3- in control panel->Performance and Maintenance->administrative tools->Computer Management-> disk Management : right click on part 3 and choose mark partition as active
4- insert windows 7 dvd and reboot, then install the other OS on part 3 wich is now the active C:\ , we can make the primary partitions hidden each to other while sharing the same logical partition.
this is the way i have windows xp and windows 7, i wonder if i can apply the same plan for windows 8.
That sounds like a nice setup you figured out. I have no idea how it will be in 8.
but if the primary partitions aware of each other every windows will make corruption to the other windows so we must make it hidden using the control panel of each window, and better to use boot manager like system commander to boot to different systems easily. now the windows 7 i have on part 3 are corrupted during the damage of my previous geforce 7300 and installing a defected geforce 210 wich cause many sudden rebooting before completing the boot process , i hesitate to install it again since i don't use it , i like winxp more, seems my brain solidified like concrete with winxp and no way to reshape it again.
.
There's more information on the Windows 8 Boot Process here (http://www.zdnet.co.uk/news/desktop-os/2011/09/23/microsoft-explains-windows-8-boot-to-quell-linux-fears-40094017/). I really don't think that it's too much to worry about as someone on the Windows 8 Design Team posted on his blog (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/b8/archive/2011/09/22/protecting-the-pre-os-environment-with-uefi.aspx) that ultimately it is the Consumer that is in control.
On the subject of Linux, when I first started using it I used to go through a rather tedious procedure of installing it alongside Windows which would involve me Defragging & Partionioing my Hard-Drive. Then I discovered the Wubi (http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/windows-installer) Installer for Ubuntu which lets you install the OS just like you would any other program in Windows. Sadly it only works with Ubuntu, so I haven't been able to use other Distros that I like such as Mandriva & Open-Suse for sometime.
