When Microsoft surprised me the first time by saving itself from the Vista debacle with Windows 7, I thought well they bought themselves some more time.

Now they surprised me again by making themselves viable for the future with Windows 8. If it works as smoothly on the PC, Tablets and Phones as demonstrated then I think they got a winner. Well without further ado here is the video demo.

The retail release of Windows 7 was, 2009-10-22.

Now, 19 months later, it is demonstrating Windows 8?

(Maybe, Windows 7 was no good. We should all get in line today, to upgrade!)

Windows 7 is really a very nice version. Yes, there are some really crazy ownership and security settings that you can run into at times that seem like circular problems, but most of the time you can run smoothly without seeing these difficulties.

What I don't understand is how they can take the windows api and make it run quickly in such a new paradigm as you see with multiple devices, pc's, tablets and phones. Perhaps it is just the power of cpu's making up for the abstracted layers on top of the core api?
