Hi all.

This night (from 02:00 AM CET) Aruba provider (www.aruba.it (http://www.aruba.it), one of the most important italian hosting provider) had a burn in UPS battery facility.

This event disconnected millions of web services in Italy, thinBasic included.

The situation seems now recovered. They declared that all serverd and data were not touched at all by this event and they are just recovering electrical matters and cleaning from the dust of anti-burn systems.

Hope the situation will remain stable.

Ciao
Eros

Hello,

How do I get to the local help files.
Usually I've used the online help.
But sometimes (usually due to no WiFi :(
or being stranded on a deserted island ;))
I sometimes don't have access to the online help.

Also what are the exact steps to update the
local help files?

for local help just press F1 inside thinAir.

Sorry, I don't use thinAir.
I use MS-Wordpad for my text editor.

Why? thinAir is installed with thinBasic and has the ability to execute or debug your script from an icon.

Look on the programs menu for thinBasic and look for help file.

the rechargeable batteries can be dangerous, i have an emergency light which are connected always to the mains, but i have noticed that the battery begins to develop a bulge (look at the photo) and eventualy may explode, so i get rid of it. also there are reports about the batteries exploding in cell phones and laptops.

For safety, always carry your cell phone in a case constructed from welded one inch thick A36 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A36_steel) steel plates. The top of the case should be kept bolted shut. The bolt should be one half inch diameter A36 steel.

All thinBasic material is under \thinBasic\ directory
thinBasic help files are located in \thinBasic\Help\
thinAir (thinBasic IDE) is located under \thinBasic\thinAir\

All updates are automatically done whenever you install a new thinBasic version.

PS: if you do not want use thinAir as editor, it is ok. But it is not OK to use an editor that is not a textonly editor like WordPad because you risk to add characters not compatible with your programming language.

There are many text editors you can choose from.
Check at http://www.thefreecountry.com/programming/index.shtml
and http://www.thinbasic.com/community/forumdisplay.php?359-Alternative-IDEs

thinBasic web and forum just went up after my provider (aruba.it) experienced another down of many hours.
At the moment there is no info about the reasons other than thousands and thousands of angry customers filling any blog or twitt insulting Aruba.it

Will see ...

At least they were considerate enough to have the entire shutdown while I slept.

But, I don't understand how an IP could be located on Aruba.
