There is no primary goal other than having fun with thinBasic and whatever other passions (possibly tech related), even other programming languages. I like to see mixing different passions/interests, see different ways of viewing the same thing. This is the soul of creation: mixing. What's the problem with this?

About thinBasic, if you are curious just have a look at support area (http://www.thinbasic.com/community/project.php) and you will see what's going on under the curtains. There are many many bugs fixed and new features developed.

PS: Dan (and others) can take advance of this forum as much as he likes as far as language is polite, positive.
Every post from Dan is a real discovery and a pleasure reading. And I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking this way.

I have thought the same thing concerning me posting about other languages. When we don't hear anything for a long time from Eros, I begin to worry.

On the other hand, all programming languages are related. So, if someone posts about features of another language, that provides ideas for thinBasic.

I think how crucial, how vital this topic is to someone, mostly depends on the following. If a person has an actual life, which seems worthwhile to him, then, he will not feel threatened, offended, or insulted, by almost any information that is posted here. I think that when people feel powerless in their own circumstances, when they cannot affect those who are really making their lives difficult (sometimes the main culprit, is the one in the mirror), they look for victims to criticize, to drag down, even in the tiniest arenas. "Misery loves company.", right? It's easy to be a critic, correct? If someone besides the proprietor, wants to regulate what is posted here, can you imagine how that person would act if he had real power over people?

Time moves slowly. I get bored using only one language. In my opinion, if you want to keep forum members, then, let them post what they want. They may go off on tangents concerning other languages, but, I think if you let them roam, then, they will return. I can make an analogy concerning a parent and a child, or, two people in a romantic relationship. If you try to control the person, you will drive him/her away.

Concerning me posting about, "every off the wall topic I can come up with"; I am suspicious of people who use phrases from popular culture, like, "off the wall". To me, the use of such phrases is a mark of conformity. The phrase comes into use, without being defined until much later, if ever. Those in the human herd who use it, have an unspoken vague common idea of what they mean when they use it. I wonder if such people have the intelligence to construct sentences using individual words, and not shorthand phrases.

Let's see what, "off the wall", actually means.

From,

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/off-the-wall ,

it means,

": highly unusual : BIZARRE".

I know what, "highly unusual", means, but what about, "bizarre"?

From,

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/bizarre ,

": strikingly out of the ordinary: as
a : odd, extravagant, or eccentric in style or mode
b : involving sensational contrasts or incongruities" .

So, I think, "off the wall", basically means, "far from what those at the center of the bell curve consider to be acceptable". Fortunately for me, I have no desire to be like those at the center of the bell curve. Remember, someone at exactly the center of the bell curve, has an IQ of 100!

(Postscript: --> For many people, almost nothing is more intolerable than involuntary anonymity, "invisibility". For them, negative attention is much easier to bear, than, no attention at all.)

i am an admirer of Dan, .
i have a big Folder in my hard disk named danbaron and contains all sorts of valuable articles from him and the other users contributions.
and regarding posting other topics, i never thought that my previous article about YouYube files will turn to make the most usefull practical utility in the year by Petr, ie to copy what you have watched already from videos without downloading it again, this can reduce web traffic and in practice millions of dollars.
always the diversity is the major engine for evolution.

John,

if you want to talk about ScriptBasic, in all its form and distributions I will be happy to open again a forum for it.

But I will immediately ban you again as long as you will reborn your negative crusade (you know what I'm talking about)

Ciao

... When we don't hear anything for a long time from Eros, I begin to worry.

I'm always around even if I do not have time to post.

And in backstage, I'm always working on thinBasic.
This last ... time hole in releasing a new thinBasic version is due to the fact I want to finish "Module classes (http://www.thinbasic.com/community/content.php?2-Module-classes)" feature for which there could be great advantages.

Eros, in my opinion i like a programming language to have a fractional update once every three years, such as from v0.23 to v0.24, unless there is a critical bug, personally i hate new release every 4 months or so, this is why i stop to care about purebasic, it is great but they continue to update it, and from v3.x to v4.x you need a special converter to convert the code.
also the new versions must be compatible with the old one. else we need to continue to reshape our neurons networks, . even with the current thinbasic version i think i know 3% only of its huge encyclopedic capabilities, andit is sufficient for my purposes. 3% from a billion = 30000000 and this is big.
i am sure dan doesn't mean by the sentence "When we don't hear anything for a long time from Eros, I begin to worry." : that he want a new version every 2 months. he just want to reply about posting so the forum will kept alive and running.
