there is a threat that wikipedia may be converted to a payed membership service like the online encyclopedia brittanica, they ask for donations to cover the costs of millions of clicks every minute. but from millions of users i do not expect more than a 700 dollar donations, one of the reasons is that every person are depending on his neighbor to donate ,a human nature, other reason is that most people in the world (let alone europe and usa) do not have even credit cards, so how to donate?
i think it is the responsibilty of globe Governments to cover the costs of this free universal service , and other free services.
also i wonder why there is is no something like a "millionaires association" or "millionaires society" so they will make an annual meeting to discuss how to donate to different services in the world.
there is a "labor union" , why not "millionaires union" also !!

Starbucks should donate as the Internet is a major component to the services they offer.

The 10 cent increase in my Pike brew that I noticed the other day should be donated to open source projects & FREE services.

I would forgo the 10 cent discount for bringing in my own cup if they would donate the proceeds.
