The following article from USA Today gives the idea that Apple may be forced to change their policy. We'll see, I suppose.

The Basic! you referred to wouldn't be powerful enough/feature packed to create modern programs, so perhaps Apple isn't worried as they are with Flash or other modern programming methods which don't fit in line with their "vision."

when you see flash games perform on the IPhone you will easily see why Apple didn't want to have them there. Slow as hell. It is definately no threat for them. And why should it. It is just a tool to create stuff with it. But it is definately nothing for the Iphone. Or other mobile devices.
