"... made in Germany for an Italian company ..."
We must be crazy in Italy !
The land of mozzarella asks others to do the job.
That are the results.

[font=courier new][size=8pt]As far as I know, nothing is made in the United States.
Probably, soon, even American weapons will be made in China.
Could you imagine then, if the United States had a war with China?
American missiles would be made in China, and shipped to the United States.
Then, the American military would shoot them back to China.
Of course, the factories where the missiles were made, would not be targeted.
The wonders of capitalism, yes?

I don't think so. The US loves our weapon technology. I could imagine that you will concentrate more on your own production and development of new technologies there.

You cannot compare food with electronic with heavy industry with ... other matters
Food is very connected with the territory, people, traditions, air, components and, in case of mozzarella, with animals and what they eat.
Have you ever eaten a great cheese and because it was so good you purchased one to take home and when home the flavour was completely different?
The same for wine, bread, ... and so on.
That's the Nature.
They make good mozzarella here in the States, now Parmigiano-Reggiano that is another story... man a good slice of that cheese is the best!

They make good mozzarella here in the States
Yes, I'm sure about that. But my point is not that in Germany are not able to do great mozzarella. The point is that food (the good one, not the one you get in big stores) must be produced and consumed as close as possible.
The States are big. Would you eat a mozzarella made in the West while you are in the East? How many KM has travel that mozzarella?
Mozzarella in something you need to eat in few days otherwise is will not be mozzarella anymore.

My friends Myles and Vicki have a very good supplier of Italian food for the gallery. Mostly items that travel well like Parmesan cheese, Parma hams, Salamis, pesto and pickled vegetables. (Parma hams take at 18months to 3 years to mature so there is no hurry!).
Real Mozzarella, made from buffalo milk is also available in the supermarkets here. It is packed as the fresh curd so it does not keep for very long but it has a very fine creamy texture.

PS: I will let you know if I turn blue after consuming my purchase of Mozzarella. (I wondered why It was on special offer.)
