[font=courier new][size=8pt]Everyone has a public "face", and a private face. Sometimes, both are the same. Sometimes, they are opposites. My
observation is that, people don't obtain power positions by being privately, "nice". So, I would be cautious when
interacting with powerful people - maybe especially the ones who appear polite and friendly. Organizations (and,
governments are organizations) have public and privates faces, too. And, of course, there is a correlation between the
nature of an organization, and the natures of its employees - "birds of a feather, flock together". Who believes that
every government story about mysterious deaths of public people, acts of terrorism, attacks by foreign countries, etc.,
is true? And, what happens to those who try to verify an official story's claims? What happens to the person who
demands details, who points out that particular claims, when examined closely, defy logic, and who refuses to keep
silent? And, what happens to a member of an organization who becomes seen as a threat to reveal its secrets? Of course,
the answer depends on the nature of the specific organization. The consequences of being seen as a threat to the
Salvation Army, are probably quite different from the consequences of being seen as a threat, to a major government. I
suspect that, when some governments feel threatened, they use streamlined procedures, which circumvent the slowness and
unpredictability of their institutionalized justice systems. And, certainly, the example of an individual, serves as a
reminder and incentive, for the entire group, yes?
