The smallest significant length (uncertainty principle?) in our universe is around 1E-35 metres. The span of the known universe is around 10E+27 metres. Taken together we have a ratio of 1 : 10E+62. A fixed point number with 240bits (30 bytes) could easily accommodate this value with full precision.

Hmm. The "span" in which direction? Given recent theories I think we could legitimately ask, In which dimension?
