Mike (Hartlef) or anyone else who might know, in Blender you can create procedural shaders for your meshes.

1. Instead of saving those materials as images, is there a way to export the shader script file out and then load up the shader script in your application?

2. This is the reverse, if you make a cool shader in rendermonkey (http://rendermonkey[url=http://developer.amd.com/gpu/rendermonkey/Pages/default.aspx) or cg (http://developer.nvidia.com/object/cg_toolkit.html), can you use those in Blender?

Thanks for any help, I will keep researching and if I find any info will post back here in the mean time.

Hi Kent,

you can use GLSL shaders in Blender, I think.
But I will ask friend of mine which is Blender wizard to be sure.

Hi Kent,

just googled a bit and saw that RenderMonkey can read Collada 1.4.1 files. This way you should be able to export stuff from Blender to Rendermonkey.

I talked to friend,

he didn't know about any regular way to export procedural materials.
Maybe the way Mike suggested will work, are you interested in any specific proc. materials in particular?

Thanks for looking into it guys. I did some research too, most of the import exporting of shaders is with the blender game engine and not from within Blender itself it seems.

Since I know how to use the material editor in Blender better than rendermonkey or cg fx, I thought it might be easier to make shaders, but I think I will go with cg fx, it looks like there is plenty of reference material to learn and use it.

Which engine do you want to them with?
