This will bring photography into the 21st century ... if it already isn't there. Digital prints are already not admissible in court ... this will make that even more so. It makes adding and subtracting things easy.

And, I can see an application in programming: instead of having different pictures for different screen resolutions, simply adjust the original picture when the program runs. That should save on the number of support docs, pictures of course.

It is interesting technique,

one friend at school had recently presentation on this topic.

While I agree this is very ellegant solution of photo "shrinking", I am not sure which photos from my collection I would like to postprocess this way.

I guess the main use will be on websites where dynamically sized pages are a very nice feature. They talk about storing indices, I wonder how that would work with webpages... will it be a new type of image format supported by browsers?
