I just realized that S3 announced new graphic solution (http://www.s3graphics.com/en/products/class2.aspx?seriesId=17).

What is likeable is the support for OpenGL 3.1 and OpenCL. I think this could make them very good competitor for Intel, which has still very clumsy OpenGL implementation, and I think no OpenCL support at all yet.

While this S3 solution is not something directly targeted for gamers, I hope it will slowly push away Intel onboard solutions from (note/net)books or at least motivate Intel to try to bring a bit more ;)

I'd never heard of S3 before but I hope that by competing with Intel they can get them to make better cards. :)

S3 was quite famous some years ago. Even my grandpa used to have "S3 Trio 3D" card (sadly it was the weakest part of his PC - just 4MB of memory and problems with alpha blending).

S3 pioneered S3TC - texture compression very successfull at its time. So very interesting company with very random quality results. I am curious.

They had S3 Savage series too, I almost buyed them but then I found out the drivers are not very stable, so I bought some Radeon instead.
